Breaking – Moto Maker Launches Today for Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon Moto X Variants

Breaking – Moto Maker Launches Today for Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon Moto X VariantsThe Moto Maker customization service, considered one of the Moto X’s chief selling points, had previously been offered exclusive to AT&T subscribers, leaving those on Sprint, T-Mobile, Verizon and U.S. Cellular with black and white flavors as the only options.  The first three carriers, however, had previously been rumored to be launching the Moto Maker service to prospective Moto X buyers within the first half of November.  Now those rumors can be proven correct, as Motorola has officially ended Moto Maker’s exclusivity on AT&T, launching the feature for Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon Moto X buyers.  Only U.S. Cellular has yet to announce the service for its Moto X version.

Aside from allowing users to customize the Moto X’s body and trim color, Moto Maker also allows for special engravings on the back of the device, among other customizations.  All told, Motorola claims users can choose from more than 2,000 different combinations, and devices customized with the service should arrive within four working days at the very most.   Unfortunately, the photograph of a wooden Moto X above remains a fantasy, as Motorola has yet to launch the rumored wood option as a custom material for its new flagship.  Still, Moto Maker is one selling point on the Moto X that could manifest itself after the fact, as the Moto X was released in the last week of August.

The Moto X, as stated several times before, won’t blow consumers away with its fundamentals.  Its processor, clock speed and display resolution are solid at best, and definitely not flagship-level, but the Moto X’s combination of Moto Maker and software features make it one of the most, if not the most unique phones in the market these days.  That hasn’t exactly translated to record-setting sales, but it’s too early to write the Moto X off as an also-ran in the flagship phone category.
