Aldi Wine Advent Calendar Quickly Sells Out (But You Can Still Get it on Ebay, If you Are Willing to Pay For It)

Advent calendars are very popular this time of year. Well, this is the only time of year that you can enjoy an advent calendar, of course, since this is the Christian season of Advent.

In case you are not aware, advent is the first season of the Christian church’s calendar year.  It is the four Sundays leading up to Christmas day (or the birth of Jesus, the end of the BC calendar).

A little factual history aside, advent calendars are popular every year, even among those people who do not belong to the Christian church. That is because, of course, Christmas is the most popular time of the year, at least in the Western world, and an advent calendar helps you count down the days to that fateful morning.

Typically an advent calendar is something that you give to children, normally because they contain candy or perhaps toys.  This year, though, Aldi has released an advent calendar for the wine lover.

This one is definitely not for the kids.

The Festive Collection Wine Advent Calendar comes with 24 miniature bottles of wine, featuring 12 varieties. That means for $69.999 you not only get one-holiday drink per day, but you also get the opportunity to try different wines that you might not otherwise get to familiarize yourself with.  Upon release of the advent calendar, inventories depleted quickly; so fast, in fact, that you can no longer find the 21-pound holiday item at your local Aldi store.

If you want one, though, you can look on the internet, but it is going to cost you.

Within the first 24 hours of Aldi’s Festive Collection Wine Advent Calendar release, they started to show up on eBay.  As of Thursday afternoon, for example, you could find 46 of these calendars for sale on the online auction block, with 26 completed sales so far.  Most importantly, though, these items were selling for as much as $300, before a potential $50 shipping charge.

Now, Aldi’s calendar is not the first “adult” advent calendar.  You can also find styles that feature cheese or even liquor.
