Moto G Launch Date Good for November 13

Moto G Launch Date Good for November 13It couldn’t get any more official than this.  Motorola announced earlier today that it will be launching the Moto G on November 13, and the Google subsidiary has launched a tease photo for the event, with the theme apparently focusing on travel.

A look at the tease could hint at one or two things – first, one of the Moto G’s selling points may be its being a great device to take on international trips, and second, that the Moto G is Motorola’s low-cost Moto X alternative for consumers hailing from emerging markets.  Motorola was coy as usual with regards to the Moto X, but thanks to a number of reports from the past two weeks, we have a fairly good idea of what to expect from the low-cost device.

According to these reports, the Moto G will come with a 4.5-inch, 720p AMOLED display – that’s the same resolution as the 4.7-inch Moto X, and as that’s also 0.2 inches smaller, that also means additional pixels per inch.  Internal storage options are said to include 8 GB and 16 GB onboard memory, while the device may be powered by an older Snapdragon S4 Pro processor clocked at 1.2 GHz.  But consumers should really pay attention to the pricing – rumors indicate that the Moto G will be priced at $200 to $250 for an off-contract version, and may be offered as a free phone for American customers looking to purchase a phone on contract.

Regarding the Moto G’s design, it is said to be similar in appearance to the Moto X, but slightly smaller and with a possibly chunkier overall build.  As November 13 is just nine days away, we should learn more about the Moto G before then as we fill in the blanks.
