The report comes from Chinese tablet-centric site PadNews, and according to the site, the giant-sized iPad will have an 11.4- or 12.9-inch display. Making the rumor even juicier is its claim that the purported giant iPad is now in the later stages of testing, and may be ready for launch sometime in March 2014. Based on Apple’s release date conventions, this could mean an April release at the very latest.
The new report comes some time after a number of sources, including The Wall Street Journal and respected Barclays Capital analyst Ben Reitzes, speculated on the possibility of an iPad with a 13-inch diagonal display. In July, the Journal cited anonymous sources in saying that Apple has plans of launching a new tablet category wherein devices would have a display measuring “slightly less than 13 inches diagonally.” Reitzes, on the other hand, said in a recent research note that the move to 64-bit architecture on Apple’s A-series processors may be due to the potential of the company releasing extremely large tablets such as a 13-inch iPad that would serve as a hybrid between a tablet and a notebook computer.
